High-C Beauty Tea
I have been wanting to add a fruitier tea to the mix for quite a while now and figured that now is a good time. This tea is great consumed hot, if that's what you prefer, but it is AMAZING poured over ice. Super hydrating and tangy for these upcoming hot summer days.
What's Inside?
Hibiscus*, rose hips*, lemon balm*, goji berries*, cinnamon*, orange peel*
*Certified USDA Organic
Dosage/preparation:
Hot tea: use 2 tsp herbs/cup filtered water. Pour boiling water over herbs and let steep for 5-10 minutes. Strain, add honey/sweetener if desired and enjoy!
Iced tea: Make a strong infusion using up to 1/4 cup (or as much/little as you like!) for 2 cups of water. Pour hot water over herbs. stir, and let sit either on the counter or in the fridge until cooled. Strain, add more water (if needed), sweetener if desired and refrigerate for 2-3 days.
Benefits:
I call this a "beauty tea" because it contains herbs with high levels of antioxidants and polyphenols which fight oxidative stress (a cause of premature ageing!), protect the body and reduce inflammation
Hibiscus: nicknamed "the botox plant" because its high vitamin C and nutrient content help brighten the complexion, reduce oxidative stress, and boost collagen production
Rose hips: these little guys are some of my favourite plant medicine out there. Soooo incredibly nutritive--one of the highest herbal/food sources of bioavailable vitamin C! Contains polyphenols and anthocyanins, which are believed to ease joint inflammation and prevent joint damage. May also improve muscle soreness and boost exercise recovery.
Goji berries: these cute and delicious little berries have been used in teas in TCM (traditional Chinese medicine) for centuries! They contain beta carotene which is great for the eyes and skin, vitamin C and other antioxidants! They also provide a lovely sweet flavour to the tea
Cinnamon: one of the best herbs for improving insulin sensitivity and regulating blood sugar! Like the theme of this tea, cinnamon also contains high levels of antioxidants that protect the body against free radical damage, reduce inflammation, and promote a healthier complexion.
Orange peel: acts as a digestive bitter which may boost stomach acid levels, high in vitamin C for that skin glow!
