Needing more love in your life? Look no further than this flower-forward, heart soothing tea.
I decided to call this blend Anahata, which in Sanskrit means “unhurt, unstruck, and unbeaten”, and is the name of the fourth chakra. The anahata chakra (energy centre) is the heart centre. The seat of love for ourselves and others, compassion, and joy. The anahata chakra is a special one because it is seen by many as the bridge between our physical manifestation (the bottom 3 chakras), and our spirituality (the upper 3). In order to reach our spiritual potential we must have an open heart!
There is no harm in choosing practices that help you connect more deeply to that heart centre. One of those practices can be drinking this tea, and along with it creating an intention to bring more love into your life.
Love things more. Love YOU more. Love others more. Spend as much time as you can, in love.
For this blend I chose flowers and herbs that both physically and energetically work with the heart. Flower power!

Get to know the plants!
Rose petals: high in antioxidants, help relieve anxiety, relieve menstrual cramps, improve digestion, and provide a loving, soothing energy
Lavender: calms, reduces anxiety and is great for anyone that is high-strung, nervous, and in need of relaxation.
Hibiscus: traditionally used by Egyptian royalty for its ability to improve health and vitality! The beautiful deep red colour is heart medicine.
Hops flowers: a sedative flower, used to calm the nervous system. When the nervous system is calm, relaxation and ease can flow into our lives!
Lemon Balm: a favourite plant of mine, from the mint family, that gives a lovely flavour to tea and is used as a relaxant.
Motherwort: a plant that lends a nurturing, maternal energy to anyone around her! I like to compare the energy of motherwort to that of a hug from mom. Soothes you in a special way.
It’s Latin name is Cardiaca, meaning heart. In ancient days, the traits associated with this plant were described as “dispelling melancholy vapours from the heart”, and for “calming the trembling of the heart”. It has an affinity for the heart, as well as the womb.
Damiana: an aphrodisiacal plant that brings along with it passion and romance! It is used for restoring an exhausted, or depleted body, and in this way gently restores sexual vitality.
In addition to drinking this tea with purpose, here are some other things that resonate with the energy of the heart chakra:
The colour green! This is the colour associated with the heart chakra. It's no wonder we feel such a sense of being at home, and in love, when in nature. Wear green, make a green juice or smoothie, lie on some grass. Basque in those green vibes.
The bija mantra, or seed mantra, for the heart chakra is "Yam". Chant "Om Yam", or simply "yam", or repeat the word silently to yourself during meditation or breathing exercises. Using the voice is best, though, if you can! The vibration of the word "Yam" is the vibration of the heart chakra itself.
Bring a sense of pleasure into as many day-to-day activities as you can. It can be as simple as lighting a candle in the room you're in, setting aside technology-free time with your loved ones, putting effort into feeling beautiful, reaching out to a friend or family member, or love-infused self care.
